Why This Page Exists
Most water damage restoration in Utah is paid for through homeowners insurance — True Day bills your carrier directly and you pay only your deductible (typically $1,000 to $2,500). Occasionally, though, homeowners face restoration costs that fall outside insurance coverage: an aged failure the carrier declines, a pre-existing condition, a wear-and-tear denial, a scope item outside the covered peril, or a deductible that is more than the household can absorb in a single payment.
For those situations, True Day partners with Wisetack to offer transparent financing on restoration projects. This page describes how it works, what the terms look like, and what to expect.
How the Financing Works
Wisetack is a third-party financing provider that specializes in home services. Applications take about two minutes on your phone, and the credit check is a “soft pull” — it does not affect your credit score. If approved, you receive a monthly-payment plan for the restoration project cost, and True Day is paid in full by Wisetack. You then make monthly payments to Wisetack directly.
The Application Process
- Ask for a financing quote during scoping. Once True Day has your Xactimate scope, tell the technician or Michael that you want to explore financing. We generate a Wisetack link specific to your project.
- Apply on your phone in about 2 minutes. Wisetack asks for your name, address, income range, and date of birth. Soft credit check — no hard pull, no score impact.
- See real offers instantly. Wisetack shows the specific monthly payment plans you qualify for, with terms and APR clearly listed.
- Choose a plan and accept. If a plan works for you, accept it in the app. If none work, walk away — no obligation, no fee, no impact on your credit.
- Work begins. Once accepted, True Day is paid by Wisetack and the restoration project proceeds normally.
Typical Terms
- Loan amounts: $500 to $25,000 depending on project size and creditworthiness
- Terms: 3, 6, 12, 18, or 24 months
- APR range: 0% to 35.9% depending on plan and creditworthiness (Wisetack publishes exact rate before you accept)
- Prepayment: No prepayment penalty on any Wisetack plan
- Late fees: Governed by Wisetack’s terms, disclosed before you accept
- Reporting: On-time Wisetack payments are reported to major credit bureaus and can build credit; missed payments are also reported
Decision Time
Wisetack decisions are typically instant. In rare cases, additional verification may be requested, which extends the decision to 1–2 business days. If you need work to begin urgently (an active water event, a Category 3 sewage situation, mold that is spreading), True Day can start work under our standard payment terms and refinance to Wisetack once the emergency is stabilized.
What Financing Can Pay For
- Homeowners insurance deductibles ($500 to $5,000 typical)
- Out-of-pocket costs on scopes where insurance covers a portion
- Full project cost when insurance declines the claim entirely
- Non-covered items (matching materials, code upgrades, betterment)
- Mold remediation on projects insurance treats as pre-existing
- Reconstruction work following the drying phase
What Financing Cannot Pay For
- Purchases outside True Day’s scope of work
- Cash advances or refunds
- Portions of the project already paid by insurance (would be double-payment)
Common Questions
“Will applying hurt my credit score?” No. Wisetack uses a soft credit inquiry, which is not visible to other lenders and does not affect your credit score. If you accept a plan, Wisetack does then perform a hard inquiry to open the loan account.
“What if I get denied?” A denial does not affect your credit score. If Wisetack denies you, no financing is issued and there is no fee. You can still proceed with the restoration on standard payment terms.
“Can I refinance later if I don’t qualify now?” Yes. If your credit situation changes, you can reapply through Wisetack at any time on the same project up to 90 days after work completion.
“Do I need Wisetack for the free inspection?” No. Every True Day inspection is free with no obligation. Financing only enters the conversation once there is a scope of work to price.
“Can I use my own financing?” Absolutely. Home-equity loans, personal loans from your own bank, credit cards, or HELOCs all work. Wisetack is one option among many; we mention it because it is the fastest and lowest-friction for restoration-sized projects.
How to Apply
Financing is discussed during the scoping conversation, after your free inspection produces a written Xactimate scope. To start:
- Call (385) 247-9359 for a free inspection.
- Once the scope is finalized, tell Michael or the technician you want to explore Wisetack financing.
- We text or email you a project-specific Wisetack application link.
- Apply on your phone in about 2 minutes; see offers instantly.
Financing does not delay restoration — if you need work to start before the financing decision, we begin under standard payment terms and switch to Wisetack once approved.
Fine Print
All financing is offered by Wisetack and issued by their bank partners. Rates, terms, and approval decisions are set by Wisetack, not by True Day. True Day is a Wisetack home services partner but is not a lender, and receives no bonus or incentive based on which financing plan you choose. Full Wisetack disclosures are provided at the application step and again at the acceptance step.
Wisetack does not currently finance projects for customers who do not have a U.S. mailing address or U.S. bank account. If Wisetack does not work for your situation, other financing options may be discussed with Michael on a case-by-case basis.

Pay Over Time Through Wisetack โ No Hit to Your Credit to Check
Insurance covers most restoration jobs. For the deductible, non-covered scope, or jobs filed out-of-pocket, True Day offers financing through Wisetack โ a homeowner-friendly lender with soft-credit prequalification (checking your rate does not affect your credit score).
Your True Day project manager can prequalify you in a few minutes during the written-scope visit. Nothing to sign on the spot.
About Wisetack: loans are issued through independent lending partners. Rates and approval depend on your credit profile. Prequalification is a soft inquiry; final approval may involve a hard inquiry. True Day does not profit from or receive referral fees for financing.
When Wisetack financing is the right call — and when it isn’t
We partner with Wisetack because out-of-pocket shouldn’t be the thing that forces a drying decision. Three scenarios where it fits, how the mechanics work, and the honest case where paying straight is better.
Three cases where financing fits
Your claim is approved but you have a $2,500 or $5,000 deductible due up front. Financing lets you pay the deductible in 6–12 monthly chunks instead of a single hit.
Your carrier pays for mitigation but your preferred upgrade on reconstruction (better flooring, cabinet trim-up) is out-of-pocket. Finance just that overage.
A long-term-seepage denial from the carrier doesn’t mean the water isn’t there. Financing lets you handle the mitigation + rebuild while you dispute coverage separately.
How the mechanics work
- Soft credit check only — checking your rate does not affect your credit score. Hard check only happens if you accept a specific loan offer.
- Terms: 3 to 24 months.
- Amounts: $500 to $25,000.
- Where it applies: any True Day scope — deductible, co-pay, cash-only portions of mitigation or reconstruction.
- Approval and funding: within minutes of accepting an offer, so work can start the same day.
When Wisetack financing makes sense — by scenario
Financing is a tool, not a universal answer. Here is honest guidance on when our Wisetack financing partnership actually solves a problem, and when it adds cost you don’t need.
Scenario-by-scenario
| Your situation | Financing worth considering? | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Insured loss, deductible under $1,500 | Usually no | Pay the deductible directly if you can — faster + no interest |
| Insured loss, high deductible ($2,500-$10,000) | Yes, often | Financing bridges the deductible gap while carrier reimburses mitigation |
| Uninsured loss, $5,000-$25,000 scope | Yes | Financing lets you start immediately — delay turns Cat 1 into Cat 2 scope |
| Partial-coverage loss (gradual-leak portion denied) | Yes | Carrier pays what’s covered; financing covers the uncovered gap |
| Pre-emptive work (not an active loss) | Case-by-case | Protection Plan may be a better fit than one-time financing |
| Loss over $25,000 | Financing cap is $25K | Beyond cap: HELOC or carrier-direct billing on the covered portion |
What Wisetack financing is honestly good at
Speed and ease. Soft credit check (doesn’t ding your credit score), 3-24 month term options, no origination fee for most applicants. For a mitigation emergency where the deductible or the uncovered portion needs to be bridged for a few months while you reorganize finances, it’s a cleaner solution than a credit card.
What it’s not for
Long-term debt. The whole point of 3-24 month terms is to bridge a gap, not finance a lifestyle. If you can’t pay it off within the term, consider whether the full scope is actually the right scope.
Financing on complex ownership situations
Standard homeowner financing is straightforward. These scenarios have additional considerations we handle regularly.
Scenario-by-scenario
| Ownership situation | Financing approach |
|---|---|
| Married couple on title | Either spouse can apply as primary; joint application often improves approval terms. Wisetack soft-check doesn’t affect credit score during pre-approval. |
| Single homeowner | Standard individual application. No co-signer requirement. |
| Co-signer scenarios (adult child financing for parent, parent financing for adult child) | Co-signer applies as primary; property owner authorizes the work. Common for seniors on fixed income. |
| Rental property (landlord-owned) | Landlord/property-owner finances. Tenant insurance may cover tenant contents separately but not building restoration. |
| Short-term rental (Airbnb, VRBO) | Owner finances; may have business-property insurance alternatives to consider first. |
| HOA + condo | Unit owner finances interior scope; HOA master policy covers common elements. See multi-family page for ownership-split details. |
| Deceased homeowner / estate | Executor or probate attorney authorizes. Payment typically from estate funds; financing possible but requires executor on paperwork. |
| Divorce in progress | Depends on who’s on title + decree. We require clear authorization from party legally in control; may need attorney coordination. |
| Mortgage with escrow + loss payee | Insurance check may be payable to both you + lender. Our direct billing simplifies when applicable; otherwise lender endorsement required on insurance check. |
What we won’t do on financing
- Require financing as a condition of work
- Push financing over insurance where insurance applies
- Finance work the primary owner hasn’t authorized
- Help structure financing in a way that circumvents normal credit review
What’s on your side with Wisetack
- Soft-check pre-approval (doesn’t affect credit score)
- Transparent rate quote before committing
- 3-24 month terms with no prepayment penalty
- No origination fee for most applicants
- Loan is through Wisetack, not us — you have a direct lender relationship
How financing interacts with insurance claims — three real scenarios
When a loss is covered by insurance, the question isn’t usually “how do I pay for all of this” — it’s “how do I bridge the timing between when I need to pay and when insurance pays me.” Here are the three scenarios we see and how financing fits each one:
Your insurance will cover the loss but you have a $1,000-$5,000 deductible due up front. Financing (Wisetack) through us lets you pay the deductible over 3-24 months while we start the work immediately. Insurance pays us directly for the covered scope; you pay financing for the deductible. No interest penalty if you prepay from the insurance disbursement when it comes.
Insurance covers mitigation but denies part of the rebuild scope (depreciation holdback, excluded items, or scope the adjuster didn’t approve). Financing covers the portion insurance isn’t paying, so work can continue without stopping to argue. Supplements to the insurance claim can run in parallel — if they’re approved later, financing is paid down from the carrier payment.
The loss isn’t covered (no insurance, excluded cause of loss, prior-condition dispute). Financing is the primary payment mechanism — up to $25,000 with Wisetack soft-check, 3-24 month terms. Monthly payment calculated based on term and total; terms shown before you accept.
Timing specifics
- Wisetack application is a soft credit check — it doesn’t ding your credit score to see if you qualify
- Approval decision is usually within minutes; funds available for the work the same day in most cases
- If insurance comes through faster than expected, you can prepay financing with no penalty — no “minimum interest” trap
- If insurance comes through slower, financing covers you while the claim settles
What we don’t do
- We don’t waive, discount, or absorb your deductible — that’s insurance fraud under Utah law
- We don’t start work on a scope-above-coverage situation without a signed authorization that spells out what you’re paying for
- We don’t push financing on someone who can comfortably pay out-of-pocket — it’s an option, not a default
Wisetack financing details, terms, and application are available at the first visit or by call — and your Wisetack contract is directly with Wisetack, not with us (we don’t hold your financing paper).
Financing vs cash vs insurance-direct-bill (how to decide)
When you have options for how to pay for restoration work, the decision depends on your specific situation. Here’s the three main scenarios — and when each one is the right choice:
| Scenario | Best option | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Covered loss, standard deductible, you have the deductible on hand | Insurance direct-bill (us) + you pay deductible | Simplest; your out-of-pocket is just the deductible; carrier pays us the rest |
| Covered loss, deductible is cash-flow strain | Wisetack financing for the deductible | Spreads the deductible over 3-24 months; prepay without penalty when you have cash |
| Covered loss, scope above coverage (holdback, excluded items) | Wisetack financing for the gap | Keeps work moving while supplement is filed; pay down from supplement if approved |
| Not a covered loss (gradual, excluded cause, no policy) | Cash if available OR Wisetack financing | Terms shown before you accept; soft-check doesn’t ding credit to see if you qualify |
| Business owner, cash-flow strain despite coverage | Direct-bill insurance; Wisetack for any gap | Preserves business operating cash; interest cost usually offset by business continuity |
| Retiree on fixed income, cash available but reluctant to deplete emergency savings | Discussion; may be Wisetack for part + cash for part | Depends on specific situation; we don’t push either way |
What Wisetack actually offers
- $500-25,000 financing
- 3-24 month terms (you pick based on monthly payment comfort)
- Soft-check pre-qualification (doesn’t ding credit)
- Approval and funding usually within hours
- No prepayment penalty — pay off early when insurance comes through, no “minimum interest” trap
- Direct contract with Wisetack, not with us
What financing doesn’t do
- Doesn’t waive your deductible (illegal under Utah insurance regulations if the contractor absorbs it)
- Doesn’t change your insurance scope — what’s covered is what’s covered
- Doesn’t change our price — the scope and price are the same whether you pay cash or finance
What impacts your insurance side
- Our scope is written in Xactimate — what the carrier is set up to review
- Financing the deductible doesn’t affect your claim; it’s a separate transaction between you and Wisetack
- Supplement requests go to the carrier directly; financing just bridges while supplements are pending
What we won’t do
- Push financing when cash makes more sense for your situation — it’s an option, not a default
- Push cash payment when financing makes more sense for your cash flow
- Hide the cost difference — financing has an interest component; cash doesn’t; we show you the math honestly
If you’re not sure which path is right for your situation, ask on the first call. We work through the specific numbers with you — and we’re straight about the trade-offs.
What Wisetack actually looks at for approval (realistic expectations)
Wisetack is our financing partner. The soft-credit-check pre-qualification is quick but it’s not automatic approval — there are specific criteria. Here’s a realistic look at what Wisetack considers:
- Credit history (FICO score and credit-report overview)
- Current credit utilization and open accounts
- Income verification data (through third-party sources)
- Debt-to-income estimates
- Residence stability
What typically approves at the full amount requested
- Credit score 680+
- Stable employment with verifiable income
- Low existing debt-to-income (under 40%)
- Current residence for 1+ year
- No recent delinquencies, bankruptcies, or collections
What typically approves at a lower amount than requested
- Credit score 620-680
- Employed but higher debt-to-income
- Mixed credit history (older issues, current good)
- May approve for less than requested (e.g., $8,000 of a $15,000 request)
What typically doesn’t approve
- Credit score below 620
- Recent bankruptcy within 2 years
- Current delinquencies on existing credit
- Unable to verify income
What the terms look like
- APR varies based on credit profile and term length (lower for shorter terms, higher for longer)
- Monthly payment calculated based on amount + term + APR
- No prepayment penalty — pay off at any time without extra interest
- Monthly auto-debit standard; payment info stays with Wisetack, not us
Soft-check vs hard-pull timing
- Pre-qualification (soft check): no credit impact; shows if you qualify and the terms available
- If you accept and proceed: hard pull happens, which does appear on your credit report but typically has minimal credit-score impact
- You can decline after seeing the terms and before the hard pull
Realistic timeline
- Pre-qualification: minutes
- If accepted: funding to us (or to you directly, depending on structure) within same business day typically
- Approval timing is during business hours; a 2 AM emergency with financing need would complete financing paperwork the next business day
What this means for your emergency
- If you need emergency water mitigation and don’t have cash for the deductible: we start the work; you apply to Wisetack during the first day
- If approved: Wisetack pays us; you pay Wisetack monthly
- If not approved: you work out payment with us directly (sometimes credit card, sometimes a payment plan we set up directly, sometimes insurance payment timing covers it)
What we won’t do
- Pressure you to accept financing you’re uncomfortable with
- Hide the APR or terms — Wisetack shows them before you accept
- Approve or deny on our side — this is Wisetack’s underwriting; we’re just the merchant partner
- Share your credit info with anyone outside of Wisetack’s required processing
Alternative payment paths if Wisetack doesn’t work
- Credit card payment (we accept standard cards; fee may apply on larger amounts)
- Check/ACH direct payment
- Insurance direct-bill (if claim is covered; we deal with carrier timing)
- Smaller payment plan directly with us (owner authorizes case-by-case)
Wisetack pre-qualification is a few minutes and no credit impact — it’s reasonable to check even if you think you may pay another way.
What actually affects a Wisetack approval decision
Wisetack is a soft credit check, which means applying does not affect your credit score. The approval itself depends on factors the homeowner can usually estimate ahead of time:
If approval doesn’t go through, that doesn’t close the door. True Day accepts payment plans directly, with the first payment at job start and the balance scheduled against work completion. The financing decision should not stall the mitigation decision โ drying needs to start regardless.
Wisetack vs direct payment plan โ which fits your situation
Both options are available. The right choice depends on what you need the financing to do. Here is the honest comparison:
| Situation | Better fit | Why |
|---|---|---|
| You want fixed monthly payments, 3-24 months, and are comfortable with a soft credit check | Wisetack | Fixed APR locked at approval; soft check doesn’t affect your score; up to $25,000 |
| You expect insurance to cover the loss but need bridge financing for the deductible | Direct payment plan | Payment plan can match the carrier’s reimbursement timeline; no formal application |
| Your credit profile has recent dings and Wisetack approval is uncertain | Direct payment plan | No credit check; based on job agreement, not financial history |
| Job is under $500 but you prefer to split payment | Direct payment plan | Below Wisetack’s typical minimum; direct plan handles small amounts |
| Job is over $25,000 | Direct payment plan or supplemented financing | Above Wisetack’s cap; we build a plan or combine with carrier payment |
| You want to pay over 24 months with no prepayment penalty | Wisetack | Payment plans here are typically shorter; Wisetack’s longer terms with no prepay fit this |
| Insurance denied the claim entirely and you’re paying out-of-pocket | Depends โ talk through both | Wisetack better if you have the credit; payment plan better if you don’t |
Neither option affects the price of the work. The scope is the scope; financing is only about how the payment lands. If you’re uncertain, mention it on the call โ we walk through both and name the one we’d pick in your situation.
